SP10

1 07 2007

SP10 is officially over. I spoiled a pretty cool person. I linked her blog a few posts ago so if you haven’t checked her out, go do it!

The person who was spoiling me was pretty cool too. She sent one big package in early June, and mentioned there would be another package in the future. Second package never showed, but honestly… I got so spoiled with the first package I really don’t care if it never shows up. ;-)

I’m just waiting to find out who sent me the really cool package. I know she slipped back in the beginning and left a link to her blog, so if she doesn’t reveal in the near future I’ll go hunt her down. :-)

hehe….

As far as knitting and spinning goes I’ve finished the washcloth for one of the girls I tutor.
washcloth

Pattern:  Crisscross Dishcloth from Creative Knitting, March 2005

Yarn:  Sugar ‘N Cream in Rosewood color

I really don’t like how the top and bottom ruffle up, but I know that is because of the cables.  Maybe if I did some sort of ribbing it wouldn’t have been so weird.

I’ve been spinning a lot with what little free time I have.  Just ONE MORE WEEK of summer class!  As exciting as that is I’ve got a TON of stuff to do before it’s over.  hehe… I love caffine.  I’ve been using the Joy spinning wheel for my “spinning stuff I’m getting paid for”… and my tradition for “fun spinning”.  Currently the traditional has some lace on it.  Good news there is that I’m ALMOST done with the lace.  As soon as that lace is done I’m going to spin up some of my dragonfibers roving I bought into some yummy sock yarn.

As much as I love the two wheels I still want another one.  I think it’s competition issues.  The only reason I really started buying and stashing yarn like crazy was because I got a blog, and that’s what the internet bloggers do, buy and stash yarn.  Everytime someone buys a new wheel, I want one too.  I have serious issues.  ;-)

My excuse is that I want a double treadle wheel… more specifically, I want a majacraft suzie pro.  It’s a dream wheel.  I’m sure it’ll be a LONG time till I ever get my hands on it but it’s a goal I can save up for.  Right now I’ve got a list of money spent on my hobby… and money made from the hobby… I think the money I make on the hobby should be money spent on the hobby… so as soon as what I’ve made is enough for a wheel… I’m getting it.  ;-)

I love to update!

25 06 2007

So I’ve updated A LOT lately…. anyone else noticed?  I’ve gone from about once a week to almost daily…

Why the sudden change?  It’s easy!  I have 6 days left of my summer class.  3 this week.  3 next week.  Oh.. and I have 2 BIG projects… a final to study for… plus other random journal entries I have to write.

I don’t want to do ANY of it.  I am sick of school.  This is supposed to be my summer break… where I sit on my butt and enjoy my fiber hobby all day.  My knitting/spinning stuff has taken over my bedroom.  I love seeing fiber all the time, but it’s also REALLY distracting.

OH!  About middle of last week I shipped my last and final SP10 package off to Canada land… (ended up stuck at the PO for 30 minutes because I didn’t want to drive home in the massive storm that rolled through while I was there)… and apparently the package arrived today.  Record time.  I had included my info with the package so she knows who I am now.  :-)  Go visit her.  Kit’s Knit Spot.  You know you wanna click that link….  ;-)

Attack of the killer SP

19 05 2007

So I’m doing SP10 and my pal said she’d be shipping something around the end of April… then one thing happened after another.  First her husband forgot to mail it… she found it in the car a few short weeks later and almost killed him.  Then the zip was incorrect so the PO decided to hold onto it for a week until she was able to fix it.

Well the printer box full of goodies showed up today, and yes it was quite a large printer box.  I opened it at the table while my parents and I were eating lunch, they looked at me like I was a crazy person while oooing and ahhing over everything that was pulled from the giant-bottomless-printer-box.

SP10 packageStarting with the far back left there some bright pink and bright green discloth cotton.  I have a freakish obsession with buying cotton and I love the pink/green color combos.  I’m going to have to make some more facecloths for the shower and such. In the very very back there’s a bright neon roving/batt thingy with pretty sparkly novelty type yarn mixed in which can be used for making art yarns.  I’ve never made art yarns but I like these items cause I’ll actually be able to knit something with my art yarn once I get around to spinning it.  Next in front of the art yarn batt there’s some camel down…mmm… camel.  Next to the camel a really, really pretty card.  I have a thing for lots of colors.  In front of the card there’s a 16inch lanternmoon rosewood circular…. pretty… very pretty… On top of the circular is a really cool glass pendant which I LOVE.  Next to that there is a lovely notebook which will be perfect for writing down my knitting projects and a lovely little ball of laceweight alpaca which I think I’ll make a lacy scarf out of.  In front of that… two bars of chocolate… I’m just waiting till I’m slightly hungry again to scarf those down.  Moving to the left there are 2 skeins of handspun that my SP spun for me, purples and pinks… my favorites.  And one is sparkly!  I love sparkly!  Behind that is sock yarn!  A sock yarn I haven’t used  yet either which is even more exciting cause I was just talking to someone last night online about how I wanted to try all the different kinds of sock yarn out there.  :-D

 THANKS SP!

I love you… you wanna be my new best friend?  hehe.

SP10 has started.

21 03 2007

at least it has for me.  The hostess who was pairing up my group got really sick so I didn’t get my person to spoil until last night.  Now I’m just awaiting someone to contact me that way I can feel better about SP.  I always get nervous that the person who got my name is just going to drop me.  SP8 went well though so I’m not going to worry.  :-D

I’ve been stalking my persons blog… learning about them.  Now I just have to come up with some ideas of stuff to send… right now I’ve got none.

SP10 bandwagon

7 02 2007

I just had to do it this time around.  It was a blast the first time and since I told myself I would limit yarn purchases to $20 a month, it works with SP10 because I just take that $20 and spend it on someone else.  :-D
