It’s going to be a FUN week.

25 09 2007

That title, complete and utter sarcasam.  I had a decent bit of homework over the weekend but it wasn’t enough to destroy my weekend.  I sat and thought about the massive amounts of handspun I’ve spun up and never knit with and decided I needed to just open up an etsy store for my handspun.  (Actually I saw that Denise bought moo cards and I really wanted some too.  The only way I could justify purchasing moo cards with yarn pictures was if I’m selling handspun.  Genius eh?)  Then while hanging out in a chat room online I was convinced that I NEEDED a store so a store I have.  I haven’t put anything in it yet because I still have a lot of planning and such that I want to do.  I also have some things I want to get before moving forward with the whole “store” thing.

Then school came back to bite me.  I have a test on Thursday.  I have a feeling I’m going to fail this test.  The material is VERY difficult.  So far this year I have yet to finish a homework problem without something being wrong.  Mathematical proofs were never my strong point and this whole class revolves around proofs.  Today in class the teacher told us he would give us the test during class and wanted it back before 4pm.  Sounds great.  Only problem is that I have class pretty much all day on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  I would still have an extra 3 hours after class to work on it before it’s due; however, is it fair that some people get 6 extra hours?  I’m having serious issues with the fairness thing.  Those 3 hours of extra work time happen to fall after I’ve sat through lecture for 3 straight hours.  By the time I’m done I NEED a break to unwind a little because my brain has just gone to mush.  Ah well.

I’ve got a paper due tomorrow, a bunch of impossible geometry homework to work on and this huge test to study for.  Plus I’ve got reading for my other classes.  The next 48 hours until this test is behind me are going to be miserable.  So if you don’t see me online it is safe to assume I’m buried under piles of math books and won’t be back till Friday.  Hope everyone has a great week!  (oh, did I mention I’m insanely far behind on reading my blogs?  Sorry if I haven’t commented much lately, this semester is killing me.)

I HATE SCHOOL.

29 08 2007

The title says it all.  Started school last Monday.  It was insanely boring on Monday but boredom never killed anyone.  Tuesday was another story.  My first class was at 8 am and I had three 1.5 hour classes in a row with only 15 minutes between each.  My first scary math class went 11 minutes over, leaving only 4 minutes between classes.  Second scary math class got out a few minutes early.  My theology class followed the scary math classes.  I’m in Theology 101.  In that little “course catalog” they gave me when i enrolled it has this 101 class as being the lowest one offered.  It says it’s for those “unacquainted with the Hebrew Scriptures.”  No prerequisites, no NOTHING.  So I showed up to class and the teacher passes out the syllibus and mentions that “you shouldn’t be in this class unless you are VERY familiar with the bible AND got at least a B in a high school scripture class.”  huh?  I went to public high school so that B grade would never have happened anyways.  I decided to go talk to her after class when everyone had left.  I asked her if these “requirements” were really neccessary because my book totally didn’t say that.  She told me I was wrong, it did say that.  Well, to make a long story short, her tone and body language along with the fact that I had sat through 4.5 hours of straight classes and my blood sugar was dropping led to me loosing my mind.  I started to get upset, decided it was time to leave, and she stopped me when she noticed I was upset.  Cue the waterworks and the biggest emotional break down I’ve had in the longest time!  Ahhh…. the power of stress.

So later that night I decided to scour my universitie’s web site to find some newer catalogs to see if what she was saying was true, or complete BS.  Sure enough, the class after me had a GIANT change to the class description.  “unacquainted” had been changed to “acquainted,” and a big list of the requirements were now listed.  My issue: how can you have so many freaking requirements for a 101 class.  The whole point of the class is to make connections between events in history and the bible and such.  The types of things that are important to the class are more like the things you do in a literature class more than a religion.  Looking back, I really shouldn’t have said anything to her cause she probably wouldn’t have noticed anyways.  I was so worried that I might be in over my head that I just wanted to get a little more info about it from her.  Bad move.  I’m the type of person who likes to get all of my ideas straight before confronting people, and I just didn’t expect her to act the way she did.  Oh well.  I have my second class tomorrow, hopefully things will turn out okay.

Oh… and all the stress probably occured cause I hadn’t knit since the weekend.  Fiber stuff is my stress reliever and there just hasn’t been enough of it.

I WON!

4 08 2007

YAY!  Hehe… this is why I’m glad I’m on a “yarn budget” and not a “yarn diet”… that way I can enter contests where the prize is yarn.  :-)  I entered a contest over a month ago on Bumblefee’s blog and I found out the other day that I guessed the EXACT yardage.  haha…

Oh… and since it is a “yarn budget” and a new month started last Wednesday, the first thing I did on Wednesday was get up and order some roving.  I bought it off of Cavyshops and I can’t wait for it to come.  I got one of the merino/tencel rovings in the Tropical Waters colors.  There’s still one left over at her store.  I think the whole “budget” thing was a good idea.  I can buy the things I want as long as I have the money in my yarn budget.  Truth is I’ve spent TONS of money this past half year on yarn and spinning things.  I really need to cut back my spending so that I can stock my savings account back to where it should be.  That and I’ve got so much yarn, this budget gives me an excuse to use it.  I can still buy sock yarn… I just have to wait 3 months until I have enough to cover the tax and shipping costs…  I can buy some roving… I just have to wait 2 months.  With that kind of wait time, I can actually spin and knit up my stuff quicker than I’m buying it.  I think I’m going to keep this as a constant budget thing.  At least until the savings is built up a little more than it is now.  That means I’ve got 9 months until the Great Lakes Fiber fest.  I better start saving up the budget.

Yarn/Fiber Diet

16 06 2007

I HAVE to do it… no choice.

I will NOT buy YARN or FIBER until the GREAT LAKES FIBER SHOW…. and since that’s in May I should have the stash seriously busted by then.

My fiber truely is taking over my life. The only way this diet will be broken is if I run out of fiber or yarn. The chances of me running out of yarn? Never will happen. Chances of running out of fiber? Probably not. Since I do spin for some spare change I get a shipment every once in awhile of fiber to spin. So the chances of spinning through my personal stash is very unlikely.

Please… I beg you all… hold me to this. :-)

ETA:  So my BF, and some online friends convinced me this was completely ridiculous.  I had promised my sister a b-day gift this year… and I knit little rewards for the kids I tutor.  Not being able to buy yarn until next may would mean these things would have to come from stash, and I’m not about to use the nice stash on the kids I tutor.  ;-)  So the rules have changed.  I get $10 a month and that includes taxes and shipping.  If there’s something left over, it will roll over to the next month.  That way I CAN buy something for myself, I’ll just have to make sure it’s something I REALLY want.

Roving!

26 04 2007

LnV rovingI got some roving in the mail today! I was in the right place at the right time when they updated and was able to grab some of the roving. It’s just gorgeous!

I need to get the rest of my stash spun so I can get to spinning my good stuff. That and I’ve recently been coveting the Spunky Eclectic Fiber Club thingy… My dream is to use up the stash so I can sign up, cause the price on the fiber club is not bad at all!

8 01 2007

If you’re expecting some knitting content.  I’ve got none for you as of now.  I plyed some more singles today and I’ll set the twist after work tonight.

School went okay.  It’s life that’s killing me right now.

We don’t see my mom’s side of the family very often unless there’s a wedding, funeral or graduation.  Unfortunately it looks like it’s going to be a funeral this week.  I’ve been sitting around thinking about this all day, and it looks like work is going to be a great distraction.  I’ll let the media tell you, no one says it better.

Cross your fingers and I may have something to show tomorrow… not likely, but possible.

Tomorrow is Tuesday annd usually I’ve got my knitting guild meetings or SnB.  BUT!  I’ve got night classes on Tuesdays this semester so those are done until summer.  However I’m going to join the spinning guild on Wednesday, that is unless there’s a funeral.  We will see.
